Snobs vs. Slobs

And people ask me why I’m embarassed to root for these guys

I saw this via Deadspin.com, our new favorite site. Needless to say, it is pretty shameful that I root for this team, including the jerkface that is A.J. Pierzynski (whoop, sorry, now that they won the WS, he’s a “gamer,” not a jerk.)

Anyway, this is some ridiculous wrestling video thing that the Sox did with TNA Wrestling. A.J. is largely the instigator in this whole thing and Ozzie Guillen is also featured. It is just another in the long line of things (you know, fans bumrushing the umps and such) that makes me ashamed—even after a WS victory—to be a Sox fan.

Well, here it is:

  1. I don’t know Ross, Guillen was pretty hilarious in that.

  2. If you’re ashamed to be a White Sox fan, then don’t be one. It is as simple as that. Take your self-esteem issues elsewhere.

And how freaking long are you going to mention those goddamned incidents at USCF? You ARE aware that the bleep who “bumrushed” the ump was a Cub fan, were you not? Do you also recall the guy who “bumrushed” Randy Myers at Wrigley Field in 1995? Do you also recall the fight with the Dodgers bullpen in 2000? How about the many incidents of trash-throwing by the bleacher bums? Or Steve Bartman being taken out of Wrigley Field by security because fans were trashing him, swearing at him and threatening him? Or after, when he was harassed to no end? All this, and you are ashamed to be
a White Sox fan????????? Give me a freaking break, pal. You are absolutely NOT a White Sox fan, I can assure you of that. You’re so ashamed, go to Wrigley and be a Cub fan. Just keep your hands to yourself if you see a foul ball. If not, all those civilized Cub fans might not be too happy. Gentlemen like Lester Munson might even threaten to kill you. But please. Spare me the “I’m so ashamed” garbage. If I were you, I’d be ashamed to put that crap out where people could read it.

  3. Uh, I’m not really ashamed to be a Sox fan; It’s called sarcasm. I suspect it would be hard for me to go to Wrigley Field and see a game, as I live on the East Coast.

There is no doubt that I am happy to be a Sox fan. Last time I checked, the Cubs have not won since the early 20th century. So, no, I’m not about to get in line and be a Cub fan. I’d be much more ashamed to be a Cub fan (Bartman, the Chad Kreuter incident, etc.).

Nevertheless, A.J. Pierzynski looks like a damned fool in this video. That’s all I’m sayin’.
